The Sinatra Celebrity Cookbook

A project near and dear to Frank and Barbara Sinatra - all proceeds benefit the nonprofit Barbara Sinatra Children's Center.

Founded in 1986 by Barbara and Frank Sinatra, the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center is widely acknowledged as a state-of-the-art haven for abused children. The not-for-profit facility provides individual and group therapy for young victims of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.

Who We Are

Most cases of abused and neglected children never come to the attention of authorities. This is especially true of sexually abused children -- secrecy is often intensely maintained, even by adults who know of the abuse, for fear of destroying the family. Approximately one in three girls is sexually abused before age 18, and one in four by age 14. Studies show that one in six boys is sexually abused before age 16.

The Barbara Sinatra Children's Center remains committed to Barbara and Frank Sinatra's vision that all children and their families who suffer the devastation of physical or sexual child abuse or other emotional traumas will receive the care, respect and treatment they deserve. When the Center opened, Mr. and Mrs. Sinatra promised that no child who looks to the Center for help will be turned away due to inability to pay for treatment.

The Barbara Sinatra Children's Center treats boys and girls of all ages, from as young as 18 months up to age 18. Therapy is provided on an individual and group basis ; on-going programs reinforce client self-esteem. Additionally, the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center provides pregnant teen and teen parent counseling and prevention at local intermediate and high schools (the Coachella Valley has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the United States).

The Children's Center also reaches out to grade school children through its "Bosley the Bear" prevention cirriculum that educates children in a non-threatening way regarding abuse. The program suggests youngsters identify an appropriate person with whom he or she can discuss abuse issues. More than 70 percent of the families treated at the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center have incomes below poverty level. To ensure that the highest quality treatment is available for all children who need it, the Children's Center relies on the generosity of donors: Aunts, Uncles, Affiliates, Friends of the Children; special projects and events, and individuals who sustain the endowment fund that pays for children's treatment.

Popular and successful fund raisers including the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament, the Carlton Beal Memorial Skins Polo Game, the Sinatra Celebrity Cookbook - Barbara, Frank & Friends, are among volunteer-based activities that contribute significantly to the Center's ability to provide ongoing treatment.

Admirers of Frank Sinatra's music throughout the world enthusiastically show support for the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center through Tribute donations and participating in fundraising activities.
