Founded in 1986 by Barbara and Frank Sinatra, the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center is widely acknowledged as a state-of-the-art haven for abused children. The not-for-profit facility provides individual and group therapy for young victims of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.

The 270-page recipe book/photo album/Sinatra memoir, for which Frank Sinatra had been a chief-taster, benefits a project founded by Ol' Blue Eyes and his wife, Barbara: the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center at Eisenhower Medical Center. More than 300 notables from the worlds of film, television, music, sports, and politics, as well as chefs from famous restaurants, contributed 300-plus recipes, photos, and anecdotes for the popular book. The Barbara Sinatra Children's Center was founded by Barbara & Frank Sinatra in 1986 as a not-for-profit haven for abused abused children. When he and his wife broke ground they pledged that no child who needs help would ever be turned away due to inability to pay for treatment.

From their homes in California, Frank and Barbara had written to friends, associates, and notables throughout the world inviting them to participate. Responses were quickly received along with photos and wonderful anecdotes about culinary contributions.

The center-piece of the cookbook are recipes from Frank's youth, dishes cooked by his parents (he tells about learning to cook from his father), entrees he and Barbara enjoyed preparing for friends and family -- simply cooked Italian fare. Frank Sinatra's food "memories" are fascinating to read about!
